Studio Roslyn was engaged to lead the interior design of the new Ecologyst flagship store in the resort town of Whistler, British Columbia. Informed by the renewed direction of the brand and reflecting its transition from Sitka to Ecologyst, our design team was tasked with designing a welcoming, multi-purpose space that houses retail operations, community engagement events and a full-service cafe under one roof.

The physical realization of our process yielded a truly unique space and retail experience that epitomizes the DNA of the brand. Seamlessly blending an optimized retail merchandising and display strategy with a flexible community gathering space and practical requirements of the coffee and toast bar, our team worked to balance the demands of a commercial environment with a sense of ease, warmth and inclusivity.

The palette of materials reflects the spirit of the brand and its surroundings: oak, unfinished aluminum, wire glass, original concrete flooring, plush moleskine curtains and lush tones of blue, gray and green. A retail racking system built from aluminum and nut/bolt construction nods to the chairlift and ski rack construction in the surrounding Whistler community. Flexible and adaptable seating configurations accommodate community events such as talks, movie nights and product demonstrations. Designed and built in nearby Vancouver, the racking and shelving system is fully custom with the ability to adjust rod height and quantity as required. A space that expresses a simple and easily understood truth, a space for Ecologyst.
