A 1925 Kerrisdale heritage residence has emerged from an interior design refresh that reimagines the home’s personality while honouring nearly a century of architectural charm. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home—last renovated in 2010—has been transformed into a layered, welcoming space that reflects the homeowners’ style, values, and personal history.

Embracing the homeowners’ enthusiasm for colour and pattern, the redesign highlights the home’s character while introducing new depth and vibrancy. Original moldings and fir floors were brought to life with the addition of rich colours, textured wallpapers, patterned fabrics, and additional trim details that extend the home’s heritage charm.

Furniture and artwork throughout the home balance hyper-contemporary pieces with restored antiques and vintage finds, creating a dynamic interplay between old and new. Family heirlooms were integrated intentionally, including a large-scale painting in the dining room that served as a central inspiration for the space’s colour and pattern story.

In keeping with a mindful, budget-conscious, and environmentally considerate approach, several existing elements—such as the kitchen cabinetry and bathroom floor tile—were retained. Instead of replacing materials wholesale, the design team recontextualized them through fresh wall colours, updated hardware, and carefully chosen accessories, giving the spaces new life without unnecessary waste.

The design vision centred on creating a home that is both beautiful and livable: a place equally suited to hosting gatherings as it is to enjoying quiet, quality time. The result is an environment that feels contemporary yet cozy, polished yet practical. This reimagined Kerrisdale home stands as a testament to thoughtful design that respects its past while embracing modern expression—a timeless, personal, and welcoming space crafted for many years of living and gathering.
